I would like to report our experience with gratitude. My wife and I became a believer in the present Sekai-Meshiya-kyo one after another in 1946. Thanks to Meshiya-sam, we no longer need any medicine nor doctors since then. We have received numerous blessings and live a life full of gratitude. The accident happened on 12 October 1951. The male classmate injured my eldest daughter’s left eye while pranking. She is a second-year junior high school student now. As she felt pain and couldn’t open her eye, I performed Johrei on her twice in the morning and evening. Then I decided to take her to the brunch church of Sekai-Meshiya-kyo. On the way there, we first went to the school before the class started. We met her classroom teacher to hand in a report of absence. I told him not to do that thing again. He told me what happened in detail. The student snapped about centimetre-square cardboard with a rubber band and it hit my daughter’s eye. The teacher got worried about her very much and told me that my daughter should be taken to hospital in any case. Then the chief nursing teacher took her there. The teacher asked me to stay with him at school. After we talk about the incident, I went to the hospital, too. The ophthalmologist said, “The cardboard hit her eyeball and the pupil cracked. She has a fever and the wound might become infected. She should get in hospital for about a week. Otherwise, she might lose the eyesight.” He immediately applied eye drops to her eye. Then she suddenly felt pain in the eye and couldn’t open it. Before the eye drops were applied, her pain had relieved. I had no intention of hospitalising her from the beginning. I said to the ophthalmologist, “I will take her home and have her take a rest. So, please let us leave.” He was very worried and said, “It won’t take long.” He enthusiastically recommended her hospitalisation but I firmly turned down his offer and hurried to the church. When I arrived there, Mr I was out to visit the head church of Sekai-Meshiya-kyo. His assistants were there. I told them what happened. I apologised for what I had done in front of Dai-Komyo-Nyorai-sama and prayed for our protection. My daughter received Johrei. I willingly left for home with my daughter and let her rest. When I came back from work that evening, my daughter’s classroom teacher climbed about six kilometres of mountain road and visit us. He said, “I sincerely apologise for your daughter’s accident. I later went to the hospital and I heard that you left there. I immediately reported to the headteacher and we held a meeting. We decided to pay all the hospital charges. So, please have her admitted to the hospital and rest her there.” He kindly said so. However, I said, “I appreciate the kindness of yours and the school authorities. However, whenever we suffered from diseases, they were completely cured by praying to Komyo-Nyorai-sama. Likewise, we ask God to cure my daughter’s eye.” I told him about Sekai-Mehisya-kyo and Johrei. The teacher said, “You seem to believe deeply in that religion but what about your daughter? I think that it is difficult for her to do like you. Besides, we will be in trouble if you do so. I came here by the order of the headteacher. Please leave this matter to us.” As he insisted, my daughter and I helplessly went down the mountain road with him. On the way to the school, the teacher said, “I have a bicycle. So, I will go to the school first.” Then he left us. At about 9:20 p.m., we arrived in the town where the brunch church was. When approaching the corner towards the church, my daughter clearly said, “I don’t want to go to the hospital. I will go to the church to worship.” I thought that Komyo-Nyorai-sama guided her and we visited there to worship. After that, we went to the school. I told the teacher that we still depended on religion. Then we went to the church. We discussed that matter with assistants for an hour but could hardly reach the conclusion. However, the teacher finally accepted that we depended on Komyo-Nyorai-sama. Then he left but arrived at the church again after a while. He said, “We cannot deny medicine. If you insist that your daughter takes treatment here, please write a pledge.” Then I wrote down the following statement.

PLEDGE To: The headteacher of A junior high school On 31 October 1950, A junior high school second-grade 4th group student H.M. had her left eye injured in the schoolyard at the third class. I am satisfied that school authorities handled very much my daughter’s incident. All responsibility lies to her father in the case that her condition worsens by any chance. Therefore, the school authorities are unaccountable for this case. Accordingly, I submit this pledge for future reference. Date: 13 October 1950 Student name H.H. / Parent name H.Z.

After that, we depended on God very hard. We visited the brunch church every day and received Johrei. My daughter felt pain the first two days but the white dots on the eyeball became smaller day by day. The pain stopped on the third day and she went to school again on the sixth day. Her eye was completely cured in two weeks. The school authorities were amazed. My wife and I, as well as my daughter, were extremely delighted. Thank you very much, Meshiya-sama and Komyo-Nyorai-sama. I haven’t worked yet for the faith very much but Meshiya-sama gave us a tremendous blessing. Our gratitude is beyond description. I hope that as many people as possible receive grace from God and Paradise on Earth comes true as soon as possible. Therefore, I would like to work hard to meet with the divine intention even a little. We completely switched to natural farming two years ago and had a better harvest. My neighbours are gradually recognising its effect. All things owe to Meshiya-sama. Thank you very much again, Meshiya-sama.
